MAC Viva Glam Gaga II Lipstick and Lipglass Review and Swatches
I picked up my Lady Gaga II lipstick and lipglass on the 17th. Sorry it took me so long to post about it, but I haven’t been feeling too well. Bu I have to say that I absolutely LOVE these shades!
On the MAC site, the lipstick is described as a light warm beige. Since it is an “Amplified” lipstick the texture is a lot creamier and I find it to be more pigmented. It goes on as a semi-matte finish. Even though it is on the warmer side I think it would still look beautiful on lighter skin tones. I have read other reviews saying that the lipstick is a little unforgiving showing off your lip flaws. I personally don’t think that’s the case. However, if you do find that it shows off your imperfections, use a lip scrub while washing your face and put on a lip treatment while you apply the rest of your face makeup to allow your lips to absorb it. You can also apply a nude lipgloss on top, and a little extra bonus is that it makes your lips look plumper!
The lipglass is described as a light neutral pinked beige. But I don’t find it too have to much of a pink undertone. The finish is very creamy and applies like a dream. Try not to over do it because if you press your lips together it will give you that line around your lips and makes the color look uneven.
If you are not into the “nude” lip but want to try to ease your way into it, I suggest trying out just the lipglass. You won’t be disappointed!
Did you pick these up for your collection? Let me know what you think!

My New Love…Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is normally used in cooking but what many people don’t know are all the great health benefits it provides. The health benefits of coconut oil include hair care, skin care, stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength.
This is due to the lauric acid and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, and soothing. I have been using it on my hair, skin, and it is the best eye make up remover.
Coconut oil is solid at room temperature and quickly dissolves at 76 degrees. I scoop it out and rub it between my hands and let my body heat melt it into an oil.
Hair Care: Coconut oil helps hair by making it shiny. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry. It is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides essential proteins required to nourish damaged hair. I use it after I get out of the shower and my hair is still wet. I only apply it to the ends where it is more damaged from my straightening iron.
If you want to use it as a treatment, I would apply it all over my hair and scalp and leave it on for about 2 hours and then shower as usual. If you have very dry hair, you can wrap your hair and leave it on over night. (Make sure you use something to protect your pillow) You may have two shampoo twice to make sure it’s completely washed out.
Skin Care: Coconut oil is a great massage oil because of it’s soothing smell. It acts as a moisturizer on all skin types, especially dry skin. It also delays wrinkles, and sagging of the skin. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Recently I have been using it for shaving. It makes the razor glide smoothly and helps prevent cuts and ingrown hair. After I rinse it off my skin feels so soft. I can’t remember the last time I felt my skin this soft especially in the winter.
The other way I use it is to remove my makeup. I rub it on my face concentrating on my eyes to remove my eye makeup. Then I use hot water to remove it then follow up with my normal face cleanser and my nightly beauty routine. I have not had any break outs due to the oil, and I have not noticed more oil production. I have seriously oily skin and I was hesitant to use it on my face but it has worked out great!

MAC Viva Glam Lady Gaga II Spring 2011
MAC signed Lady Gaga on for a second year as their spokeswoman for their Viva Glam campaign for 2011. As many of you remember Lady Gaga teamed up with Cyndi Lauper for the 2010 campaign. The company said the Gaga-Lauper campaign was the most successful ever for the MAC AIDS Fund, which raised more than $190 million for the cause since it was founded in 1994. From images that I have seen to me this looks different from the other Viva Glam shades. It looks to be more of a true nude, and it is the first amplified shade of all the previous Viva Glam colors.
Not only is it beautiful shade to add to your collection but you will also be making a beautiful contribution. Remember that 100% of the earnings from the MAC Viva Glam lipsticks go to the MAC Aids Fund.
US/Canada launch date is February 17, 2011
International launch date is March 2011

I wanted to do one more look for Valentine’s Day since it is tomorrow. With this look I did a more of a smokey look using gray and black for the eyes and a nude lip. My husband and I went out and celebrated Valentine’s Day Friday night and this is the makeup I wore out to dinner.

Valentine’s Day Makeup-Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Valentine’s Day is pretty close so I wanted to do a look inspired by my favorite romantic desert, Chocolate Covered Strawberries. This is more of a romantic, flirty, girly look. I used different shades of pink and a dark chocolate brown, to keep the eyes a little smokey. Keeping with the Valentine’s Day theme I used Way to Love on my lips and Orgasm on my cheeks

Winter Inspired Look
So I have been stuck at home for two weeks now, due to the fact that we have all been sick with the flu and also this awful weather! I prefer cold weather over hot weather but it’s getting ridiculous! We first had an ice storm then it started to snow and the windchill was below zero. Kind of sucks because the Super Bowl is here this weekend and we haven’t had a chance to go out and do anything. Anyway I though I would do a makeup look inspired by the snow and winter. I used icy whites, silver and blue on the eyes. I kept my skin matte and I used an iridescent pink on my cheeks and on my lips. I hope you like it!

Celebrity Makeup Dont’s
As women we tend to look at celebrities for fashion and beauty trends. But no matter how famous and rich they are, they can still look like a big mess! These ladies (some) always look great when we see them on TV and we envy their stunning looks. On these nights however, either they gave their makeup artists the night off or they really pissed them off and they let them go out the door with their version of a “kick me sign”
Catherine Zeta Jones always looks regal and elegant, but this is an unfortunate case of bronzer overload and in all the wrong places! Not to mention her clumpy eyelashes and lack of concealer on her chin. Remember to keep your bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face, and try one without too much shimmer.
Kim Kardashian has come a looong way with her makeup since we first heard of her! I’m all about matching your makeup to your clothes as long as it is not so matchy-matchy. The blue underneath her eyes just makes her look like she hadn’t slept in days! She should have kept the blue just on her waterline and not so thick under her eyes.
When I think of Nicole Kidman, I think of creamy, pale, smooth skin. But this night her makeup artist seemed to just forget to blend the powder on her nose and under her eyes. You’d think someone could have just told her to wipe it off. Some powders or concealers that have an SPF or are HD will turn white in flash photography so remember to go light, and wipe off the excess. If you know you are going to have your picture taken you may not want to use these products.
Britney Spears… well she’s just a mess most of the time anyway. But in this picture her biggest mistake is a lack of mattifier. If you have oily skin, remember to prep your skin before applying your makeup and keep blotting papers handy at all time!
Pamela Anderson… I have no words. Ladies lets just avoid all of this.
Sharon Stone looks like she may have made her hair dresser mad too. But her eye shadow reminds me of a panda bear only not so cute. If you’re going for a smoky look remember to blend your eye shadows together so your it doesn’t look so severe. The key to a smoky eye is to BLEND!
Avril Lavine doesn’t have very many good makeup moments but even she should know that no one should wear red eye shadow all around your eyes. If you have blue eyes, golds and coppers, and browns look great on you. But keep it light and more on the gold side not on the red.
We all know Jennifer Lopez for having that “J-Lo glow”. In this picture though, her skin looks muddy and the eyeshadow and lip combo completely wash her out. When choosing a bronzer make sure it doesn’t look muddy on your skin. And if you are going for the “tanned” look keep the rest of your face glowing and light.
Remember ladies to have fun with your makeup but try to avoid these makeup Dont’s!

MAC Wonder Woman Collection Spring 2011 Review
MAC has collaborated with Wonder Woman (DC Comics) for their new 2011 Spring Collection. The collection features oversized products, such as their Mineralize Skinfinish, Eyeshadow Quads, Pigment, Opulash, Lipsticks, and Lipglass. But of course that means higher prices. This is due to their inspirations to the”larger than life bold babe”. The launch date for the Wonder Woman Collection for the US/Canada is February 10, 2011. International launch date is March 2011.
For me, Wonder Woman was not something I watched as a kid so I’m not too excited for their new collection. The collection seems a little underwhelming and nothing stands out as a must have. The packaging is bright and bold but that may not be appealing to everybody. It almost looks a little cheap to me. For me, it seems that this may have been the way that toy stores might have packaged makeup for little girls back when Wonder Woman was popular.
I’m going to have to skip this collection and save my money for something that is actually worth it. We are in a recession after all and we have to save the money we do have!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Review
A few weeks ago I saw the new collection from Maybelline, Fit Me and just now recently picked up the foundation. The collection carries foundations, concealers, powders, blushes, and bronzer. There is a total of 18 foundation colors, 6 concealers, 18 pressed powders, 12 blushes and 3 bronzers that are meant to compliment one another. According to the Maybelline website they claim that the foundation:
- No oils, no waxes, no nonsense
- Natural coverage that leaves skin the way it was meant to be…fresh, breathing, natural
- Exclusive translucent base and lightweight pigments allow skin’s natural highs and lows to show through
- Non-comedogenic, dermatologist-tested
The foundation is supposed to look like your natural skin only better, “skin perfecting” & “skin tone matching” And I must say that I agree. The first thing that I caught my eye was the new sleek packaging. It has more of a high end feeling to it. Not to mention the price! I got mine at target for only $6.95! When I first put it on it reminded me of my NARS Sheer Glow. It goes on smooth and it is very easy to blend and it is build-able. So you can have a medium to full coverage. It feels so weightless and light, almost the feel you get from a tinted moisturizer. The foundation gives your skin a healthy, dewy glow.
The only bad thing I would say about Fit Me is that it is probably not great for us Super oily chicas. Even if you have dry or normal skin, I find that you do have to powder to set it, so that you don’t look like a big shiny disco ball! If you have combination skin I think it may still work, but maybe not so much in the hot summer months. I live in Texas and there is no way this would last on my face for more than an hour without me having to retouch. But like I said if your not oily you should definitely give this foundation a try! To me it is a dupe for Sheer glow, which is $45 and this one is only $7!
I hope this was helpful to you ladies and let me know what you think of the foundation if you try it out!
