Urban Decay All Nighter Spray Review
From Urban Decay: “Your makeup will last 16 hours! Perfect for all skin types, this ultra-fine mist holds makeup for brides, dancers, and ladies who just like looking GOOD!“
While at a recent trip to Sephora I noticed the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray and it peeked my interest. I have been using MAC Fix + since it first came out, but I don’t usually do it on a daily basis. I do like Fix + so I wanted to try All Nighter to see if it would be better. You know we’re all always looking out for the next best thing!
I have really oily skin and in a couple of hours my makeup usually looks like a big mess, especially in the hot humid weather we have here in Texas. When you have oily skin, your makeup starts to shift and tends to oxidize your foundation, powder, blush and bronzers, not such a hot look! All Nighter claims to work on ALL skin types and last 16 hours. According to their site, ” it has a patent pending Temperature Control Technology that makes the weightless mist so powerful and sets it far above the competition. Your makeup won’t melt when it’s warm and humid or become dehydrated when it’s cold and humid. Yes, it actually lowers the temperature 0f your makeup to hold foundation, eyeshadow, blush, and concealer in place.” Sounds like an answer to ALL my prayers!
So, what did I think of the Urban Decay All Nighter Spray?….
First off, it is oil and paraben free, which means it won’t cause breakouts. It has a clean scent that is not overwhelming. However, I do find it to feel a bit sticky or tacky as it’s drying. The first time I tried it I applied it under my makeup, something I do with Fix +. WARNING!! Do not do this if your going out in public! My makeup wore off faster than if I was not wearing a finishing spray! It even made me oilier, after a couple of hours my skin looked extremely shiny, even in places where I normally don’ t get oily.
The next time I tried it I applied it over my makeup, and I was still a big greasy mess. It took a little longer than when I applied before my makeup, but still it was a couple of hours. By the end of the night my face was shiny after touching up my face with powder three times and my blush was almost completely gone. The worst part of my trial was that I even tried it out over my MAC Pro Longwear and my face was shiny. With MAC Pro Longwear I get just a bit of a glow not shine after a few hours of wearing it. So, 16 hours?! Not so much!!
From other reviews that I have read on other blogs and on Makeup Alley, a lot of people like this. Unfortunately for me it was a miss. I will not repurchase and I’ll stick to Fix+.
